Marketing and Lead Generation

Marketing and Lead Generation - Jamie Sene To drive traffic to a website depends on what you are selling and what you are trying to accomplish. It depends where your customer is. If you have… you may have consumers for your clients; you may have businesses which are your clients, so dependent upon who you are trying to get you are going to vary your technique. It is not the same for everybody. If you are trying to reach business owners, they are not hanging out where the consumers are. They are not going to be on MySpace necessarily and Facebook and places like that. They may be, but there are specific niches to get them, so the key is: determine who your client is, what his habits are, and drive from that source. Website design, how your website is actually created and designed is crucial. You may have the best product, the best service in the world, but once you get a visitor to arrive, you can pour all this money into advertising dollars to get the guy to arrive, and if your site isn’t laid out correctly, he is going to leave. People who are on the Internet are looking to get their answers quickly. So, you have to design your site so that it gives him his answer quickly to the point, without clutter, without confusing him, so he can navigate it and get to what he wants. If you give him too many options and if you put too much on the site, and if it is not clear, he is going to go off to the next guy, because as you know, there are many people competing on the Internet. So, you better give him the right way to do it. A lot of e-mail marketing does get ended up treated as spam because of the way it is delivered. There is a whole technology behind that. I would say that the most essential thing is only e-mail to people who are interested in your service or product. If you are going out and obtaining lists of, you know, a million e-mail list that didn’t opt into you, you are a spammer and that is not the way to do it. So, a fundamental is only e-mail to people who are interested in your product. Other than that what is the point? The trick becomes, how do you get people interested in your product; how do you gather those names? That is when you hire a professional agency to do that. Other than that, you are a spammer. … change, you always have to offer something of value. Nobody is going to go to your website because they like the graphics on your site or because they like you, they are going to go to your website because they need a solution to their problem. So the solution can be multi-faceted, it can be a white paper; it can be a buyer’s guide; it could be a free demo. Depending on what your service is and what you are selling, it could be any of those things. People have different needs, so the more options that you give a guy when he comes to a website as far as creating a lead generation vehicle, the better off you are. If you have a list, his mailing address and his email address and you have his phone number, that is what you want to do. You have to complement. Direct mail by itself may or may not work, but as part of a complete program, it is definitely effective.
